Things to consider
- Make sure both teams are warmed up and have done the appropraite stretches, etc.
- Bottled water could be supplied if it's to take place during the summer.
- You'll need a referee to ensure all matches are played fairly.
- Think about a suitable venue - a school or leisure centre could be ideal for this event.
- How and where are you going to advertise for players and spectators?
- Are you going to charge for admission? Consider this when planning for a prize for the winning team. You could try and get a local football club involved by offering a tour to the winning team.
Skills
The key skills you will develop whilst completing this event will be:
Organisation - An organised individual will usually display other qualities that employers look for, including reliability and punctuality. It is important that you can prioritise tasks and organise your time; each of the challenges needs to be organised effectively to enable them to be successful. You will need to organise the teams, the matches, refreshments, spectators and more, so there is a lot to think about!
Leadership - A good leader must be able to demonstrate a variety of skills including good communication, the ability to listen to and consider other people’s ideas, as well as being empathetic and providing motivation and vision. Remember to delegate and allow people who have offered their support to help you. Consider appointing a manager for each team to arrange things like kit and transport.
Numeracy - Employers look for future employees who have good numerical skills; this isn’t simply being able to complete calculations, but being a quick thinker, along side being accurate and methodical.
Networking - Many of the challenges require an individual who has the ability to initiate contact with people who can help support the event in some way as well as building a relationship with people.
