  • Tickets will need to be designed and printed. Remember to include the price, time, date and venue.
  • How many staff will be needed to supervise?
  • Think about whether you want a DJ, dance act or a band.

Skills

The key skills you will develop whilst completing this event will be:

Organisation Icon

Organisation - It is important that you can prioritise tasks and organise your time; each of the challenges needs to be organised effectively to enable them to be successful. This event requires a lot of organisation, including the venue, refreshments, music, health and safety, advertising, publicity and more!

Business Acumen Icon

Business acumen - Some of the challenges require a certain amount of business acumen which includes a keenness and quickness in understanding when dealing with a business situation as well as being able to make good judgments and quick decisions.

Networking Icon

Networking - Many of the challenges require an individual who has the ability to initiate contact with people who can help support the event in some way as well as building a relationship with people.

Numeracy Icon

Numeracy - Employers look for future employees who have good numerical skills; this isn’t simply being able to complete calculations, but being a quick thinker, along side being accurate and methodical. You will need to plan to cover any expenses with costs of tickets and refreshments. Can you think of any creative ways of fundraising?

Creativity Icon

Creativity - Everyone has to be creative at some point in their working lives, whether it is designing an advert or solving a problem. Creativity is an important skill, which can be applied to almost any task. Even people who think they are not creative in the artistic sense need a little creative spark for other areas of their life and these challenges will help provide employers with evidence of this. Could you think of creative ways to sell tickets? Why not do early bird deals or buy a certain amount of tickets and get some free?

Leadership Icon

Leadership - A good leader must be able to demonstrate a variety of skills including good communication, the ability to listen to and consider other people’s ideas, as well as being empathetic and providing motivation and vision.
