Bringing your support to life
PDSA’s work is part of the fabric of UK’s society. Without PDSA’s infrastructure of care, and without PDSA’s education and awareness messaging, hundreds of thousands of pets would have nowhere to turn to. It’s vital that our work continues, but it’s equally important that your company’s investment is quantifiable and measurable.
Your partnership with PDSA starts here

PDSA working with schools
Education and awareness in schools
To increase awareness and promote responsible pet ownership we have a variety of pet health initiatives that reach a wide ranging audience. Last year our schools education programme and PetCheck schools nurse visited around 10,000 school children. We want to continue this important work and scale up our reach so that more young people, and future pet owners, understand the welfare needs of pets.
Education and awareness in the community
Our team of threePetCheck vehicles and nurses gave free health checks to over 9,000 dogs and offered advice on all aspects of pet care to owners across the country. This is a fantastic vehicle for taking our key messages to the general public and an initiative we want to expand to give us even greater reach and impact.
Education and awareness through digital media
Our digital activities such as Your Right Pet- an interactive on-line pet selector tool- and our pet health videos, complement our range of educational literature that is distributed free of charge to veterinary hospitals, practices, libraries and community centres.
For PDSA to break the cycle of need for our services, we are passionate about giving all current and future pet owners the tools and awareness to make the best decisions on behalf of their pets.
Our aim is to build on the already well profiled PDSA Animal Wellbeing (PAW) report. Along with YouGov PDSA surveyed 11,000 pet owners around the five welfare needs of pets – Health, Diet, Companionship, Environment and Behaviour. This year we scored the nation 63 out of 100 (page 9 of the PAW report) and over the next five years we want to focus on each of the themes in turn, culminating in a report in 2017 where all of our collective efforts have hopefully resulted in scoring the nation 100.
This core aspect to education and awareness messages, coupled with the milestones of building the pet hospital and the live case studies from the current site, gives credibility, longevity and multiple communication and PR opportunities that your business can get involved in.
Could your business help us with our research?
There are some alarming statistics around pet care that we feel as the leading pet health charity we should address and positively change.
To illustrate this, we know that a third of animals are obese. That equates to 8 million pets in the UK that are overweight and that are likely to suffer a premature death along with heart problems, diabetes and arthritis (as a common few examples) on the way.
Working in partnership to understand the relationship with human obesity and animal obesity, and the correlation of diseases as a consequence, could make a fundamental change to our society. We desperately need financial support, research expertise and a shared aspirational vision to prevent the preventable.
How we can work together for mutual benefit
The PDSA Corporate Partnerships team have a flexible and adaptable approach to working with businesses to help achieve a mutual benefit. We have many examples where we have been able to develop and create propositions that have satisfied the needs of companies and their staff whilst being in the very best interest of the pets we seek to help.
Working through ideas that can help achieve our vision for a healthy life for all pets is a great way to give our corporate partners ownership of unique opportunities. This can deliver competitive advantage and a point of difference that delivers the best giving experience possible.
