Charitable Trusts and Foundation
Find out how your charitable trust or foundation can create positive and lasting impacts for our clients by helping us to treat their sick and injured pets.
Donations from Charitable Trusts and Foundations
PDSA welcomes the support we receive from a wide range of charitable trusts and foundations. Income we receive from trusts is invaluable in ensuring we can continue to provide free veterinary care to those most in need and their companion animals.
The difference a Trust or Foundation can make – Pets and People
Around half of our clients are elderly and many of our clients have a disability too. In many cases their companion pet is the only friend they have.
Although we are primarily regarded as a charity that betters animal welfare, our work is also for the benefit of those within society that are disadvantaged, elderly and vulnerable.
Our free veterinary services have lasting and positive outcomes for our thousands of clients across the UK and the Charity Commission recognises that PDSA helps to reduce poverty.
As PDSA supports both pets and people, we receive funding from charitable trusts that support the following causes:
- Animals
- Elderly
- Education / training
- Disability
- Relief of poverty
- Medical / health / sickness
If your charitable trust or foundations objectives fall into any of the above causes, then please contact the trust team at PDSA to see how we can work together to improve lives - both pets and people.
Funding Opportunities
With a UK-wide network of 48 PetAid hospitals and 375 PetAid practices PDSA has a diverse variety of projects, both capital and revenue, which charitable trusts and foundations can support to make a positive and lasting difference to both pets and people.
Current projects include:
- Pet Hospital Appeal – Birmingham, Plymouth and Cardiff
- Digital X-ray Appeal
- Vital veterinary equipment at various hospitals
- Vital veterinary drugs and medicines at our hospitals
- PetAid hospital and PetAid Practice core costs
- Student Veterinary Care Assistants NVQ Training Programme
- Building alterations and improvements at various hospitals

Case Study
PDSA proves to be a life saver for wheelchair user Shirley and her dogs!
"I live alone and my dogs are wonderful companions. Somehow they just know when I'm having a difficult day and need a cuddle. That sort of relationship is just priceless."
Asked what people might do if PDSA didn't exist, Shirley says: "It doesn't bear thinking about. The charity has a wonderful ethos and at the heart of everything is always the health and welfare of pets. No-one knows when their circumstances might change and in the current economic climate that's the case for more and more people.
