Oscar's page
12 year old Oscar suffers with Heart Disease and needs your help.
Oscar's notes
Oscar was already receiving treatment for a heart condition and leading an active life, when he started displaying worrying symptoms. Oscar was sleeping more than usual, his coat started falling out and he was generally not the lively dog he had once been.
His owner David took him to PDSA Leicester PetAid hospital. Tests confirmed that Oscar had developed an underactive thyroid gland, causing a condition called hypothyroidism which requires long-term treatment.
Back at home, Oscar now relies on five different tablets each day, which he swallows without a fuss. Two months after starting on his medication, Oscar has made a remarkable recovery and is like a new puppy again.
Owner notes
"We knew he was very ill, but we were just so relieved that there was treatment available to help prolong his life. Oscar is a part of our family and we'll do all we can to help him."
"He is like a new dog, wagging his tail at everyone he meets, running around and playing with his favourite toy. He's now got a full head of hair and is living life to the full"
"Oscar wouldn't be here today without the help of the PDSA, I really can't thank them enough"
