Help us treat pets like Leah this Christmas
Last Christmas Leah was a playful, curious kitten. She was intrigued by all the sparkly decorations and had lots of fun. After Christmas her owner noticed that Leah was losing weight rapidly and couldn’t keep her food down. When things didn’t improve Leah was taken to her local PetAid hospital.
Our vet x-rayed Leah which revealed something alarming. Lodged in Leah’s intestine was a small Christmas tree shaped object. Leah was rushed into surgery where she underwent an operation to remove the object … which was found to be a piece of shiny, extremely sharp edged Christmas confetti.
If it had stayed inside Leah it may have pierced her intestine and caused a life-threatening infection. Thankfully she is now back on all four paws and looking forward to her second Christmas.
