If you have ever wondered how you might be able to beat Olympians like Usain Bolt and Rebecca Adlington, then now is your chance…just start a year before them by taking part in the Gold Challenge, which is a unique new charity challenge organised by Sport England, the British Olympic Association and Team GB.
Get involved in the celebrations and preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Games by taking part in the Gold Challenge as an individual or as part of a team, all whilst raising money for PDSA through sponsorship. Finish your challenge option by the end of 2012 and successfully complete your Gold Challenge!
There are 3 challenge options available:
5 Sport Challenge
Sign up for the 5 sport challenge and choose your 5 Olympic and Paralympic sports to try. From canoeing to fencing, trampolining to horse riding, there really is something for everyone. Simply undertake 3 hours of training in the sport with a local sports provider to you and raise sponsorship for taking part in new and exciting sporting activities!
2012 Distance Challenge
Register for the distance challenge and using sports like running, cycling, rowing (and many more!) pledge to travel either 2012km, 201.2km or 20.12km over your Distance Challenge. You can even share the distance within a team. You can complete the challenge using just one sport (e.g. running) over a number of months and use the online totalizer to see your progress!
Time Trial Gold Challenge
For those who are a bit daunted about committing to a challenge of a number of months, the Time Trial challenge allows you to complete your Gold Challenge in one day! Using sports like running, cycling, rowing and swimming, which are all accessible at fitness centres, you can easily complete your Gold Challenge!
