Safe Hands
For many people, who will look after their pets after they have passed away can be a huge worry.
We appreciate that not everyone has the option to arrange for the care of their pets with a trusted relative or friend. So, for those who are kind enough to include a gift in their will for our work, we promise to find a loving and suitable home for their pet when the times comes, through Safe hands - PDSA’s rehoming service.

Beau’s story
Beau, a 12 year old cat, was registered with Safe hands by his owner, a retired doctor from Yorkshire, who had kindly included a gift in his will for PDSA’s work.
When his owner passed away, we set about finding a welcoming home for Beau. Happily, we didn’t have to look too far and Beau was quickly and happily rehomed with a member of PDSA’s Head Office team.
Can I register all my pets?
As we are not a rehoming charity, we do have to apply some limits on the number and type of pets that can be rehomed.
- A maximum of three pets per household.
- Only the following pets can be registered (Cats, Dogs, Rabbits, Ferrets, Gerbils, Rats, Mice, Cage Birds, Chinchillas, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters & Tortoises)
- Vaccination certificates for each pet registered need to be sent to PDSA (we will take a copy and return your original).
How do I register my pets for Safe Hands?
There are some simple rehoming forms to complete, which need to be returned to us along with the following:
- A photograph of your pet for our files and future identification.
- Original copies of up-to-date vaccination certificates – these will be copied and returned to you.
- PDSA’s Pledge Card, confirming the gift you have included in your will for our work.
