What is the animal care preparation area?
This area is in use 24 hours a day. It comprises the kennel kitchen for all the wards and the laundry for preparing the surgical 'greens' and pet bedding to ensure there is a fresh supply of each at all times. The sluice, for the disposal of all dirty materials from all areas of the hospital is located in this prep area.
How can I sponsor the animal care preparation area?
The animal care preparation areas in each of our pet hospitals cost £55,000 to build and fully equip.

£100 Could pay for the wheeled stretcher used to transport a heavy dog from the preparation area to the theatre for an operation

Leo
PDSA vets saved the life of Leo the Labrador after performing emergency surgery to remove three socks from his stomach!
Leo had already undergone surgery to remove a bone which had become lodged in his rectum. Then just a few months later he became unwell again, Senior Vet Ian could feel something in his abdomen so the team took him straight into theatre where they found the socks blocking his bowel.
Luckily, Leo's made a full recovery now and his owners have vowed to keep a closer eye on the greedy pooch!
