Plymouth
Beardathon
PDSA vet’s ‘furry’ good idea for Plymouth pets
Plymouth’s Senior Vet, Robert Newcombe is taking a lead role in raising funds for the Plymouth pet hospital appeal .
Robert started growing a beard on 1st January and has pledged not to shave again until the doors are open of the new PetAid hospital which is due to open in September.
Robert, notorious amongst his colleagues and pet patients for his clean shaven appearance, said: “Building work has now begun on the new hospital, but there is still some way to go to reach our fundraising target and equip the facility. So I’m growing a sponsored beard, and I hope that the pet owners and animal lovers of Plymouth will support me and make a donation towards our Pet Hospital Appeal.”
Donations can be taken or sent to the existing PDSA PetAid hospital in Durnford Street, Plymouth or donated via www.justgiving.com/RobertNewcombe-Beardathon.

This is the 18th year of the Plymouth half marathon which will start in Royal Parade and finish on Plymouth Hoe.

We have places for this fantastic race and would also welcome own-place runners to join our team. Please let us know by contacting the Events team and we’ll send you a fundraising pack, containing lots of fundraising and training advice along with a PDSA running vest.

Sky dive - Sunday 6th May at Dunkeswell, Nr Honiton, Devon
We are looking to recruit a team of 10 or more brave individuals to take part in our charity sky dive to raise funds for our new pet hospital. If you would like to join in, you can even jump for free! All you have to do is raise £395 (or more!).
Please do not be put off by this amount - if you ask everybody you know to sponsor you, you will find you can quite easily raise the minimum £395 sponsorship and remember, every penny you raise over the minimum will be further contributing to PDSA and giving you the chance to make an exhilarating freefall parachute jump for FREE!

Other ways you can help us
If the above events are just not for you but you would still like to fundraise and make a difference to the Pet Hospital Appeal then there are many ways in which you can help.
For instance, you could organise a Biscuit Break - simply invite a few friends and family to your coffee morning, a Walkies event (you, your friends and fellow dog lovers, organising a sponsored dog walk). You could organise a quiz night at your local social club or maybe even a race night. You could even take part in one of our store collections! You could even take a soak in a bath of baked beans! The list of fundraising ideas is endless!
If you would like even more fundraising ideas please contact us. We would love to hear from you and we would really appreciate your support.

Case Study
Garfield
Eight-month-old cat, Garfield, used up one of his nine lives after surviving an incredible 120ft fall from his home.
Garfield fell from an open window in the 12th floor flat he lives in with his owner, suffering from a broken leg and a collapsed lung. Luckily, the highly skilled PDSA veterinary team used a metal plate and six screws to fix his leg back together and he's now fully recovered.
