Leading veterinary charity PDSA has a long relationship with the DofE (The Duke of Edinburgh's Award), working with them to offer excellent volunteering opportunities for young people aged 14-25.
PDSA became the first animal charity to become an Approved Activity Provider for the DofE in August 2010. This new licensing system means that all organisations working with the DofE need to demonstrate great volunteer management and even better volunteering opportunities.
Young people aged 14-25 can undertake their DofE which is at three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level is made up of four sections, (five at Gold) which are Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expeditions (and Residential for Gold.)
PDSA Opportunites for you
PDSA has opportunities for DofE participants to complete their volunteering section in over 180 charity stores nationwide. We welcome young people from 14years to volunteer so it’s possible to complete all three sections volunteering at PDSA.
A key aim of the volunteering section of the DofE is to enable participants to learn more about their local community and develop their own skills. In return PDSA benefits from the time, energy and dedication of the young people taking part.
As well as volunteering in our stores, you can organise a PettyCash event and build your CV to impress employers. Time spent on PettyCash fundraising events counts towards your Duke of Edinburgh award as well as raising money for sick and injured pets.
