Lend a paw and support PDSA (Spring 2011)

Taking place from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 April 2011, PDSA's Lend a Paw week gives you the opportunity to try a volunteering taster session to see if ‘lending a paw’ in support of the UK’s leading veterinary charity suits you.
There's no pressure or commitment and it's fast - it only takes one hour! You'll get a chance to look behind the scenes, meet our volunteering team and experience charity retailing first hand. Think of it as the volunteering equivalent of "try before you buy".

Volunteering is a great way to update existing skills and learn new ones whilst meeting new friends and helping a good cause. It also looks great on your CV and shows potential employers a level of commitment and useful experience in a high street retailer.

Learn new skills and add volunteering to your CV

PDSA Head of Volunteering, Janet Compton, said: "If you've got some free time and want to put it to good use, why not try volunteering for PDSA? Not only will you be helping the charity, but you'll be learning new skills. Volunteering will make your CV stand out from the crowd and give you something really unique to talk about at interviews."

More than 5,000 volunteers lend their support to PDSA. They make an enormous difference – £11.2 million difference in fact – that's the amount volunteers saved PDSA in employment costs last year by donating over 1.3 million hours to the charity.

PDSA was the first national charity to be awarded the Investing in Volunteers quality standard, and has a dedicated National Volunteering Centre to ensure that volunteering is a valuable experience for both the individual and the charity.
