F.A.Q Hamsters

How can I find my hamster that has escaped from its cage?

First of all, don't panic and make loud noises as this can stress your hamster.

I assume that you have already closed all the doors and windows in the room where he went missing. It is, however, a good idea to pick up any clothes or materials left on the floor and inspect them. Look in any boxes that are around the room as well. If you still can't find him, leave a little food in every room and close all the doors. The next day, see which room has eaten food, and search that room in the way I have described.

In the room where the food has gone missing you can try another method. Find a small bucket or other relatively large container high enough so that your hamster couldn't climb out of it and short enough so your hamster won't get hurt if he falls into it. Make sure there is plenty of wadding in the container, again to prevent injuries. Then use some books to create 'stairs' leading up to the top of the bucket or container. Put some food in the bucket so that when your hamster climbs up the stairs and sees the food, he may fall in and be unable to escape again.

Check the container regularly to see if your hamster is in it..
