My mouse has developed a large lump on his skin. What is the cause, and what is the best thing I can do for him?
There are a few things that could cause your description, including:
- Abscesses can develop as a result of a bacterial infection which can be caused by fighting. Bite abscesses are usually found around the rump and tail area.
- Tumours of the actual skin are rare, although mammary gland tumours can occur in mice from about the age of 1 year.
It is a good idea to take your mouse along to the vet's to see if your mouse needs any treatment for her condition.
