Suitable ferret toys

Keeping your ferrets active and happy

Do my ferrets need toys?

As well as plenty of exercise, ferrets need to be provided with things that they can climb on, play with and explore. Cardboard rolls and boxes make suitable toys, as well as those made specifically for small pets such as ramps and cloth tunnels. Drainpipes are ideal for playing in and running through.

Many ferrets love sleeping in hammocks, and these can be bought from pet shops or pet supermarkets.

Scatter some of the food for your ferrets around the cage and hide some in tubes, to encourage interest and activity.

Should I give my ferrets several different toys at the same time?

You should offer different toys in different weeks so your ferrets stay stimulated and don’t get bored. When a particular toy isn’t being used one week this also gives you a good opportunity to clean it.

Do ferrets need a bath?

Ferrets don’t need to bathe regularly but you should give them access to a bath containing fresh water at room temperature once a week.
