Pet Health Video: Dog Vaccination
PDSA vet, Lynda, is giving a brown Border Terrier, called Billy, his vaccinations. As he is a young dog she says that he will have one today and another in 2 weeks time. Then booster injections will be needed every year. The vaccine will protect Billy from deadly diseases such as Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis. Lynda tells us that a vaccine works by introducing small amounts of the bugs which cause the diseases to Billy’s immune system. This causes the immune system to create antibodies. This means that if Billy meets any of the diseases for real, his immune system will know how to deal with them, therefore protecting Billy.
