Pet E.R - Milo
Name: Milo
Age: Six months
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Owner: Debbie
What happened: During a walk in the park Milo spotted a discarded takeaway wrapper and had gobbled it down before his owner could stop him. Over the next few days Milo became more withdrawn and lost his appetite.
Owner's comment: Milo wasn't his usual excitable self over the next few days. When he began to be sick I knew something was wrong. Milo is such a big part of our family, the thought of losing him was unbearable.
Action taken: PDSA vets inserted a tiny camera down Milo's throat to look for the cause of the problem, and spotted a wishbone from a cooked chicken, which was stuck.
Vet's comment: Once we saw where the wishbone was we knew that Milo would need an operation to remove it - it was in such an awkward place we couldn't just pull it out.
Luckily vets were able to remove the wishbone and Milo made a full recovery. This case shows how important it is to teach your dog a signal like 'leave' so that they come away from things when you ask them to.
