What is a PDSA PetAid hospital?

What do I do if my pet needs help?

Phone your nearest PDSA PetAid hospital and ask if your postocde falls within its catchment area. When you do phone you will be advised about the proof of benefit and proof of identity you will need to provide, and an appointment will be made for your pet to be seen.

Please remember to bring these proofs with you on your first visit. If you cannot produce the necessary documents your pet will not be registered and only emergency veterinary care will be given.

Once you are registered with PDSA you will receive a Client agreement that outlines the responsibilitues of PDSA as your vet and you as a pet owner. You should bring this with you each time you visit the PDSA PetAid hospital or branch.

In an emergency, animals are given essential life-saving treatment regardless of whether their owner qualifies for PDSA help or not, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Are there any restrictions?

PDSA veterinary services are restricted to companion animals kept in the home or in a hutch. A maximum of three pets per household can be registered at a PDSA PetAid hospital or branch.

Wild or stray animals, farm animals and exotic species such as snakes or spiders will only receive treatment in an emergency.

The following types of treatment are not available:

  • Laboratory tests not essential for diagnosis
  • Postmortem examinations
