Photogenic puppy Poppy, from Wardley in Gateshead, has won the top prize in a national pets photo competition run by leading veterinary charity PDSA.
Poppy’s owner, Alan Armstrong, took the winning photograph in his garden, where West Highland Terrier, Poppy likes to play in the plants and run around on the lawn. He found out about the PDSA pets’ gallery competition on the internet and decided to enter his favourite photograph of Poppy.
Hundreds of proud pet owners responded to PDSA’s call for posing pets with star quality. It was a tricky decision to select the winner, but Poppy’s photograph really bowled the judges over! Alan and Poppy can now enjoy their winning prize, a camera phone complete with PDSA Dog and Bone SIM card, goodie bag full of doggie delights, as well as a framed photograph of the star herself!
Alan says: “As soon as I saw PDSA’s competition I knew I had to enter a picture of Poppy. I’m a keen photographer and Poppy is such a poser, I’m always snapping her running around and misbehaving. Recently Poppy has had trouble with her hip joint and hasn’t been her usual active self, but she’s slowly recovering and I’m sure she’ll be back in the garden playing with her sister, Maggie, in no time at all.
“I think the world of her and I’m thrilled PDSA picked her photograph as the winner!”
