Why does PDSA ask for my date of birth?
Occasionally we need birth dates to validate certain legal requirements such as sending lottery tickets (where the minimum age is 16 years) or where supporters are signing up online to children’s clubs such as Pet Protectors.
However, age is an important variable in selecting the most appropriate communication for you to receive, saving un-necessary fundraising costs. We may ask supporters to provide date of birth information voluntarily to help improve the efficiency of our marketing communications. Where you don’t want to provide full date of birth you can still help by provided just year of birth.
Why does PDSA ask for my telephone number?
In many situations it is very convenient for our supporters to talk to us on the telephone. We ask for your telephone number so we can deal with your specific requests for information or to handle administration issues promptly. If you enter your telephone number on this web site, or on any direct marketing material, we will assume that you are happy to receive a telephone call about any enquiries or administration issues.
There are also times when we would like to use the telephone talk to you about other fundraising opportunities or even to tell you about discounts and product offers we may have negotiated. We must ask for your express consent to use your telephone number in this way. If you give us permission then we can call you with marketing communications without reference to the telephone preference service.
