PDSA employs a dedicated team of reception staff within each PetAid hospital to act as the first point of contact for members of the public seeking to use PDSA services and, in liaison with veterinary staff, to ensure an efficient flow of cases through the PetAid hospital.

The specific duties of a Receptionist include carrying out registration for all clients in line with PDSA policy using a computerised system, answering all telephone enquiries and re-direct those of a technical nature to an appropriate member of staff and undertaking secretarial work including word processing and record keeping.

All Receptionists are expected to promote the professional and caring image of PDSA, through high personal and work standards. Receptionists require a mature outlook and need to be able to communicate sympathetically and courteously with clients, exercising authority in a tactful way when necessary. PDSA PetAid hospitals are busy places and an even-tempered person who is not easily flustered is essential to this post.
