Gift Aid lets us reclaim tax on the value of your donation
You may already know about Gift Aid, and how it lets us claim back the tax you’ve paid on monetary donations to PDSA.
But did you know that when you donate clothes, books or other gifts to PDSA charity shops, we could reclaim tax on them, too? It’s an easy way to raise even more money to help sick and injured animals, and it doesn’t cost you a penny.
We have introduced Gift Aid in all our shops and are now in a position to apply Gift Aid to items collected by van as well.
However, we can only claim the tax if you’ve filled in a Gift Aid form.
How it works
- You bring your donated items(s) to one of our charity shops and sign a Gift Aid form (unless you’ve signed one already – if so just let our staff know).
- Alternatively you can now sign up for Gift Aid online for items collected by our van drivers, via our freephone telephone number 0800 652 9811, or ask our van drivers for a form, clearly mark your donated item bags with your donor ID and let our vans take the bags back to the shops for you.
- We sell the item on your behalf.
- We let you know how much money it raised – that sum is effectively considered a cash donation from you to PDSA.
- You don't have to do anything – if we don’t hear from you within 21 days we can claim Gift Aid on your donation.

Next time you’re in a PDSA shop, look out for the black, silver and white Gift Aid logo. Then just ask our staff for a simple declaration form. It will take you just a few seconds to sign and date the form, and it will help your generous gift go even further.
Gift Aid in our shops could raise over £400,000 for us in the next year. Once it’s up and running in all our shops and for van collections, we hope to raise at least double this to help the sick and injured pets brought to our PetAid hospitals.
This is a really worthwhile way to help, so please don’t let these tax funds go to waste. Sign up for Gift Aid and help even more pets benefit from the loving care and attention they need. Thank you.
