  • We will help your pets when they are sick or hurt and advise you what you can do to keep them healthy and happy.

  • We will provide a caring, efficient and ethical veterinary service for your pets, following the guidelines provided by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

  • You will be treated with courtesy and respect.

  • We will strive to relieve suffering and preserve a good quality of life. If nothing can be done for your pet, we will put it to sleep gently and with dignity.

  • We will maintain the standards of inpatient care set by the British Small Animal Veterinary Association.

  • We will offer a similar level of treatment to that afforded by the average fee-paying client. For treatments beyond the resources of PDSA, we will refer you to a private veterinary surgeon at your own cost.

  • Any animal brought to a PDSA hospital will be looked at by a nurse or a vet and emergencies will be given first aid.

  • Pet owners who do not qualify for PDSA treatment will be redirected at their own cost to a private veterinary surgeon.

  • We will provide clear information about qualifying for PDSA help, how to arrange an appointment and how to get help in an emergency.

  • We will tell you about your pet's illness, the available treatment, likely outcome and possible side effects or complications.

  • We will ask for your consent to all treatments unless a delay would put your pet's welfare in danger.

  • Any information we keep about you or your pet is confidential and we will follow the Data Protection Act (1998).

  • We will maintain clear and comprehensive records of all treatments.
