Animal Care Students

Students undertaking Higher or Further Education Courses may be considered at some PDSA PetAid hospitals.

Examples of these courses include:
BTEC (Hons) Animal Management, FdSc in Animal Management, BTEC National Diploma in Animal Care, C&G Advanced National Certificate in Animal Care, BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care.

School work experience

Students in their last 2 years of compulsory schooling are often expected to undertake a 2 - week work experience placement and PDSA PetAid hospitals are a much requested location.

Due to the high level of supervision and guidance required for such Short - term arrangements, these placements are not often available in PDSA PetAid hospitals. However, school work experience placements are welcomed in PDSA’s network of shops across the UK and at our Head Office in Telford, Shropshire.

For further information and to request a PDSA School Work Experience Application Pack, please contact PDSA’s National Volunteering Centre on 01962 868883.

Volunteering

PDSA PetAid services are supported by nearly 5,000 volunteers who help mainly in our shops, offices and fundraising groups.

There are very few volunteering roles with animal contact within our PetAid hospitals because the pets we treat are cared for by qualified veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses. However, occasionally there are vacancies assisting the nursing staff, helping on reception or keeping the PetAid hospital grounds tidy.

Please visit the volunteering pages for more details.
