PDSA is the UK's leading veterinary charity, providing free veterinary treatment for the sick and injured pets of those unable to afford private vets' fees.
PDSA has 43 PetAid hospitals, which have an annual caseload of 1.3 million treatments and employ over 200 vets and 230 nurses. All staff in PDSA PetAid hospitals can proudly say that they deal with more trauma and medical cases than the average private practice. PDSA PetAid hospitals are exciting and busy places to be and are the ideal environment in which to gain a broad range of experience very quickly.
Does free treatment mean basic treatment?
No. PDSA is committed to providing a veterinary service equal to that which the average fee paying client can afford. PDSA PetAid hospitals have ECG's, endoscopes, ultrasounds and access to ASIF equipment. Patients are mostly small animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs.
PDSA does not provide treatment for exotic species such as iguanas, but in an emergency will always provide life-saving care for any species.
