Ginger cat Milo is one of the biggest cats to ever take part in PDSA Pet Fit Club, in the competition’s 12-year history. When he started his diet back in May he tipped the scales at a colossal 1st 12lb (11.8kg) – making him around 97% overweight.  He has lost 2lb (0.6kg), bringing him closer to his ideal weight.

Milo’s owner, Lou Eldridge, says her roly-poly cat has been big ever since he was a kitten. His love of food and reluctance for exercise led him to him pile on the pounds over the years.

Before joining Pet Fit Club, Milo had ballooned to almost 2st in weight but after going on a diet and slowly engaging in more exercise, he has managed to lose 5% of his bodyweight. Although the weight loss is modest, PDSA vets say it is important for cats to shed the pounds gradually and Milo has made a great start on his weight loss journey.

Lou said she was glad her beloved cat had managed to lose some weight but recognised he still has a long way to go to reach his ideal size. “We have found it a bit of a struggle to lose the weight but he is getting there slowly and I’m determined to try and help him as much as I can.”
