Current PDSA veterinary services

Our veterinary services are once again being heavily impacted by Covid-19, with illness and isolation guidelines causing serious staff shortages in our Pet Hospitals.  

Due to this, many of our hospitals are running emergency only services.

If your pet needs emergency treatment please call your Pet Hospital directly. Please do not visit a hospital without calling to confirm we have vet staff on site to help.

In the unlikely event that we have to close a Pet Hospital we will contact all registered clients directly. In this instance our phone lines will remain open, so please call if your pet needs emergency care.


An emergency is when there is something wrong with your pet that is life-threatening.

For example, some signs of a life-threatening emergency are:

  • Being unconscious
  • Constant fits
  • Severe breathing difficulties
  • Broken bones
  • Severe bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Extensive burns
  • A severe allergic reaction
  • Serious accidents such as being hit by a car or having a fall
  • Not being able to wee
  • Continuous diarrhoea and being sick

Please note these are just some examples, this is not a full list.

What to do: In an emergency please phone your hospital directly. We will assess your pet’s needs and arrange for them to see a vet if needed.

Non-emergency treatment

There are times when there is something wrong with your pet, but it is not life-threatening.

For example, if your pet has non life-threatening signs such as:

  • Problems with their teeth
  • A change in their behaviour, appetite or toileting
  • Issues with their skin
  • Minor injuries like bumps, lumps or bruises
  • Prescription flea and worming treatments

These are just some examples, not a full list.

What to do: If it is not an emergency, you can request an appointment.

Most of our appointments are now on the phone, with a vet or a nurse, who will be able to treat your pet. Simply request an appointment for a call-back through our website, and we’ll get back to you.

Preventative care

You may want to keep your pet healthy and protect them against future problems with preventive treatments.

Some examples of preventive treatments include:

  • Spaying and castrating (neutering)
  • Microchipping
  • Vaccinations and boosters (jabs/needles/jags)

We are currently unable to offer all preventive treatments, such as neutering, vaccinations and microchipping, at every PDSA Pet Hospital. If we’re not able to provide these services at your local Pet Hospital, we’d still recommend that you get these done at a local vet.
