New microscope for PDSA Thamesmead thanks to funding

12 April 2017

Poorly pets at our Thamesmead Pet Hospital will benefit from the latest diagnostic equipment after our vets received a new high-tech microscope.

The equipment, worth £545, is now in use at our hospital on Eynsham Drive, thanks to funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Laura Davey, Pet Hospital Lead and Head Nurse at Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital, said their old microscope had been in desperate need of replacement.

She said: “Our old microscope was years old and the parts to repair it were obsolete so it was vital that we had a new one.

“It’s a really important piece of equipment we use on a daily basis for everything from viewing blood samples to parasites. Being able to use such state-of-the-art equipment means we can make accurate diagnoses and prescribe the correct treatment to help pets recover as quickly as possible.”

“We’re extremely grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for this new microscope which will make a huge difference.”

The new machine has been allocated to the hospital as part of a National Emergency Equipment Fund run by PDSA thanks to support from players.
