Yes. Budgies are very social birds. They need the company of other budgies. Keep birds of the same sex together: ideally bought at the same time.

How can you tell if a budgie is male or female?
At about four-months of age the fleshy lump at the top of the beak, called the cere, becomes coloured. In male budgies it’s usually blue. In females it’s brown.
Leave your budgie in the care of a trusted friend or neighbour. Ensure they know about its requirements. Leave them a list of information, such as how much food and exercise your budgie needs, any medication they might be on and how to give it – and your vet’s contact details for emergencies.
