Archie continues to make good progress

I took Archie to the PDSA Pet Hospital a couple of years ago because he had a painful looking eye. The vets told me that the lens had slipped and he might need surgery to remove his eye if it didn't get better.

During the appointment they examined a lump in his neck and told me that they would have to do some blood tests. We were all really worried waiting for the results, it sadly turned out to be a problem with Archie's thyroid glands. The vets performed an operation to remove the gland but he now needs to take tablets every day for the rest of his life.

I was really upset and shocked about Archie's diagnosis as I hadn't noticed any other signs of him being poorly, apart from his eye. The PDSA vets and nurses were great and put me at ease throughout the whole process. They explained Archie would always need daily medication and regular check-ups. We also have to keep a close eye on his diet and behaviour as changes might affect his illness. I was really worried about giving him his daily tablet as he wouldn't eat it in his food, he'd just eat around it! Luckily, he's got used to it now, I just pop it into his mouth and he swallows it with no issue.

Thanks to his sponsors and the support from PDSA, Archie seems to be in good health and continues to live his life to the full.

Until next time,

Antoinette & Archie
