Brandy's making good progress - thanks to you

Because of you Brandy’s such a contented girl, nothing makes her happier than going for walks.

Her favourite place is the field near our home, where she runs free and plays fetch with her ball. She loves her ball and it’s amazing to see her chasing after it with so much energy – you’d never know she has such a serious illness if you saw her bounding around! Although Brandy loves her ball, they don’t always last that long - she plays with them so much that they end up deflated. It’s not just a ball she loves, she now has a new toy that she loves to play with – the cardboard tube from toilet rolls! She loves chewing them up and leaving the bits all over the house for me to clean up – lots of fun for her, but not so much for me!

Although Brandy suffers with her EPI, she is much like other dogs and can get poorly in other ways. I remember Brandy had been scratching at her ear constantly, and seemed to be in quite a bit of pain anytime anyone tried to touch it. The vets at Gillingham Pet Hospital diagnosed Brandy with a nasty ear infection and she was prescribed a course of ear drops. I was definitely not in Brandy’s good books for a few days while I was giving her the medication, but when she realised they were making her better she relaxed, and after about a week she was back to her happy, energetic self.

We were so pleased she was feeling better, I gave Brandy a dental bone treat as a celebration. Because of Brandy’s condition we do have to be careful what we feed her, as certain foods can really upset her digestive system. However, she can enjoy the occasional treat and it is lovely to see her so excited to have one. Her medication is keeping her condition under control, but she will need to take it for the rest of her life. We could never have imagined the day when she would be able to lead a happy and healthy life. Thanks to your continuing support, Brandy can lead a fulfilled life ripping up carboard toilet rolls and chasing balls at the park.

Until next time,

Rachel and Brandy
