Bumble Bee's making good progress - thanks to you

When Bumble Bee first got ill she was taking the maximum dosage of medicaton to get her condition under control.  Unfortunately this meant that there was a risk that if she had another seizure, her treatment  options would be limited.

We worked hard with PDSA’s Cardiff Pet Hospital to reduce her medication and monitored her really closely - she is now taking eight tablets in the morning and eight in the evening. As you can imagine, that’s a lot of tablets to swallow! But as long as they’re hidden in her food, she doesn’t even seem to notice them.

She has a few favourite pastimes, but walks are definitely the highlight of her day. In the winter, if she sees me putting on wellies she gets very excited, dancing around in a circle and jumping up and down - it’s so funny to see. In the summer she struggles a little with the warm weather so, whenever it gets too hot for her, she’ll take herself off to cool down in front of the fan. With a St. Bernard, this means no one else gets near the fan!

Because of you, she is still one of the family. She is such a lovely-natured dog, and great with the two grandchildren in the family, Dylan and Spencer. Spencer is autistic, but growing up with Bumble Bee has given him a lot more confidence. She’s always there looking out for him, it’s lovely to see how close they are. However, she can be a real tinker at times - one Sunday morning she helped herself to my bacon butty off the counter. There’s now a baby gate in the kitchen doorway, in case she fancies a Sunday roast. She wasn’t very happy about it though so I got her a new football, but that was destroyed in no time!  She had a rugby ball too, and so far that’s stayed in one piece. She loves it because it’s so unpredictable and bounces in all different directions, as she goes bounding after it.

Thanks for your continued support and helping Bumble Bee stay well enough to play rugby in the garden.

Until next time,

Lee and Bumble Bee
