Edmonton Green PDSA Pet Clinic FAQs

Why can’t I register with Stoke PDSA Pet Hospital?

Stoke PDSA Pet Hospital is experiencing long-term severe shortages in veterinary staffing. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily stop accepting new registrations, from the 6 February 2024 for clients living in CW1, CW2, CW3, CW5, CW10, CW11, and CW12 postcodes.

Why is there a shortage of vets?

There is a shortage of vets across the UK, it is not a problem specific to PDSA or Stoke.

I have pet/s registered at Stoke PDSA, why can’t I register new or additional pets?

Stoke PDSA Pet Hospital is experiencing severe shortages in veterinary staffing. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily stop accepting new registrations, in   CW1, CW2, CW3, CW5, CW10, CW11, and CW12 postcodes.

From 6th February 2024 we have also paused registrations for any new or additional pets of current clients, so that we can prioritise treating pets who are already registered with us.

Can I renew my registration for a pet currently registered?

Yes, if you are a fully registered PDSA client or have had an active registration within the last three years (since 5th February 2021) you will be able to re-register. No additional pets can be registered.

When your current registration expires, you will need to apply online using this link www.pdsa.org.uk/upload

If you are unable to use the online service call Stoke PDSA Pet Hospital on 01782 413415 and select the eligibility option. The reception team will then manage your registration and provide you with the next steps to complete your registration.

Why have you chosen to close to new registrations in my post code area?

We would love to provide veterinary services to everyone that needs us, but sadly sometimes this is not possible. As a registered charity faced with severe shortages in veterinary staffing in the Stoke area, there simply isn’t enough veterinary staff to meet growing demand and to treat pets currently registered with us. We have identified that your post code area has the lowest number of registered pets so hopefully impacts the fewest number of people and pets as possible. This is not a decision we took lightly but wanted to make sure we could continue to treat pets already registered with us, including your current registered pets.

Can I register at another PDSA instead?
