PDSA Out of hours Vet consult service

PDSA is now working with our partner company PawSquad – PawSquad provide PDSA clients with a FREE emergency veterinary triage service over the telephone, via chat messaging or live video calls. This means that our onsite veterinary teams are fully available to provide the emergency life-saving treatment for pets at the time they need it. 

As a client this means you’ll:

  • Quickly and easily be able to speak to a vet during Out of Hours periods
  • Have confidence that the right solution will be provided for your pet – this may be:
    • advice only
    • homecare during out of hours with instructions of when to contact your vet during normal opening hours if required
    • referral to visit the onsite* emergency vet team if required
  • Receive details of how the online triage service works and what you can expect from a PawSquad online consultation

How to get help

Click here to access the PawSquad website where you will be able to register your pet and access a free emergency veterinary consultation.

You can also register by downloading the free PawSquad app on to your mobile phone from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Speak to a vet within 5 minutes

The registration process takes about 2 minutes. Once you’ve completed this process you should be able to speak to a PawSquad vet about your pet within 90 seconds.

How to get your promo code

In order to access a FREE emergency veterinary consultation from PawSquad you will need to enter a promo code during the registration process.

The PDSA team member you spoke to at your Pet Hospital should have provided you with the promo code you need to use.

Please note: this promo code will only fully discount emergency veterinary consultations. PawSquad provide other services, such as behavioural consultations or general health checks, but these are not provided free of charge to PDSA clients. If you decide to book one of these consultations for your pet then we will not be able to refund you for any money that you spend and you will need to pay for this consultation in full yourself. We are only working with PawSquad to provide fully-discounted emergency veterinary consultations during Out of Hours periods, for any other services please contact your PDSA Pet Hospital during their normal opening hours.

How to register with PawSquad

The registration process is quick and easy, and usually takes about 2 minutes to complete. You will need to complete the following steps:

  • Provide your name and contact details, confirm that you are a PDSA client and that you have been referred to PawSquad by us, and select which PSDA hospital you’re registered with
  • Input your pet’s details
  • Choose whether you would like a text (live chat), audio or video consultation
  • Ensure you add the promo code before the consult starts to receive the FREE consultation (see above for more details)

Choose your preferred method of communication with the vet

You can choose whether you speak to the vet via:

  • live chat (text)
  • live audio (phone)
  • live video

The PawSquad vet will conduct a thorough veterinary assessment of your pet and then let you know what the next steps that you need to take are, including whether you need to attend our Out of Hours service or contact us to make an in hours appointment.

Referrals to onsite* emergency vet

If you need to attend our Out of Hours service because your pet needs emergency treatment the PawSquad vet will provide you with all the details you need to do this.

After your consultation with PawSquad

Once your online consultation with PawSquad is complete you will be able to access a summary of the consultation via your PawSquad account, a copy of these consultation notes will be sent to PDSA so our vets have the details of what has been discussed with you.

Having a problem?

If you experience any problems registering with PawSquad, or any problems accessing an emergency veterinary consultation once you have registered, please call your Pet Hospital and one of our team will be able to help you.

If you have any problems with the promo code not fully discounting your emergency veterinary consultation, please do not delay speaking to a PawSquad vet if you are worried about your pet; please pay for your consultation and then email PawSquad (welcome@pawsquad.com) and they will be able to quickly refund you what you have paid for your consultation once you have confirmed that you are a PDSA client.

*Onsite emergency vet refers to the hospital/clinic at which your local PDSA practice operates from during Out of Hours periods – this may be different to your usual PDSA practice address.
