Because of you, Pops gets the help she needs

Pops was about eight years old when she was diagnosed with her condition. Her weight was fluctuating and she would lay next to her water bowl all day.

After a worrying visit to Gillingham PDSA Pet Hospital, she was diagnosed with diabetes, a potentially life-threatening condition where Pops' blood sugar levels become too high.

At first it was hard to adapt to the fact I'd have to give Pops injections twice a day. It's important to keep the timings of the injections as consistent as possible as well as closely monitoring her diet. I've found the best time to try to give her injections is when she is eating as she's distracted and doesn't really notice them. Luckily, we've got into a good routine now.

I've had Pops since she was around two years old. I was shaking the treat tin looking for my cat Fizz who had gone missing and Pops showed up. She was a stray and looked in a very bad way so I took her in. I always think it was fate because when I went inside the house that same night, Fizz suddenly appeared – she hadn’t been lost at all. That was over eight years ago and she’s been with us ever since!

Until next time,

Natalie and Pops
