Pops continues to make good progress

Pops is a very loving cat but because of her diabetes she's become a bit of a nightmare when it comes to food!

She used to sit on my lap and enjoy lots of fuss but now her mind is occupied with food, food and more food. We've even had to put child locks on all the cupboards to stop her getting in.

She's had to become an indoor cat as we can't let her outside anymore otherwise she could pinch food from anywhere and this could have a devastating effect on her health.

Last year she stole some bread rolls and got into the packet! She had a hyperglycemic episode and her blood sugar went out of control, she was so ill and had to spend three days at the PDSA Pet Hospital under close supervision.

Her diet is closely monitored and the only treat I give her is fresh chicken, which she is allowed from time to time. She also has her cat food which contains all the important nutrients she needs.

We tend to go to the Pet Hospital every two months for a check-up and to see how she's getting on. Pops' diabetes needs to be monitored closely to ensure that she is getting the right dose of insulin, as sometimes this can change.

Until next time,

Natalie and Pops
