Sheffield PDSA Pet Clinic FAQs

Why have you closed Sheffield Pet Clinic?

Sheffield PDSA is currently experiencing severe shortages in veterinary staffing. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Sheffield Pet Clinic on Northern Avenue. Our Sheffield Pet Hospital, on Newhall Road, will remain open.

We are working hard to solve the staff shortage problems as quickly as possible so we can return to normal services.

Why is there a shortage of vets?

There is a shortage of vets across the UK, it is not a problem specific to PDSA or Sheffield.

We are doing everything we can to recruit more staff as soon as possible, so we can return to normal services and prevent any further strain on our staff.

We are working hard to solve the staff shortage problems as quickly as possible so that we can return to normal services.

When will the Sheffield Pet Clinic reopen?

We won’t be re-opening the Clinic until our veterinary staffing returns to normal, which is likely to be in 2023.

We are working hard to solve the staff shortage problems as quickly as possible so we can return to normal services. We will inform all clients when the Clinic reopens.

What services will be available to clients?

We will be prioritising emergency, life-saving treatment.

Care that can be delivered remotely will be provided over the phone. Preventive services (such as vaccinations and neutering) will be not available.

We recommend you contact an alternative vet if your pet needs preventive care. You can find a list of vets local to you at findavet.rcvs.org.uk

Will I be able to get repeat medications for my pet?

You’ll be able to request your pets’ repeat medication in the usual way, using our online form, but we ask that you give us at least seven working days’ notice.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfil medication requests or arrange collections over the evenings and weekends.

Why are you not able to offer preventive treatment or routine procedures?

We’re prioritising the pets that need emergency, life-saving treatment during this difficult period. We will return to normal services as soon as we are able too.

Will there be any staff at Sheffield Pet Clinic for emergencies?

There will be no staff at Sheffield Pet Clinic, on Northern Avenue, so please do not attend with your pet.

If your pet needs treatment please contact or attend Sheffield Pet Hospital on Newhall Road.
