Cats don’t often eat things they shouldn’t, but occasionally curiosity gets the better of them and can lead to a blockage. String, thread, hair bands, rubber bands and tinsel are the most common items to cause a gut blockage in cats.
Chocolate contains a substance called ‘theobromine’ which is toxic to dogs and cats. It’s similar to caffeine and can cause problems with the nervous system, bowels, kidneys and heart.
Pets can have allergic reactions just like people. Common triggers include insect stings, plants and medications (including vaccinations).
