Volunteer updates

Keep in touch

Our volunteers are a key part of our team and we can't wait to have you back! Please keep in touch with us while some of our sites are closed and volunteering suspended.

We've recently published the first issue of Volunteer Life, our brand new magazine for PDSA volunteers, which takes over from PDSA News.

Find out what we’re up to elsewhere on our main Facebook page, or read some of the heart-warming stories that you make possible by donating your time to us.

We also have a Volunteer Facebook group which we encourage all of our volunteers to join.  This is a closed group just for PDSA volunteers so please remember to answer the membership questions when you ask to join.

What's happening where you volunteer?

Hospitals

Our Pet Hospitals are currently operating emergency services only, and some have had to close temporarily. We have therefore had to suspend all volunteering at our hospitals until further notice. If you are an existing volunteer, please join the PDSA Volunteers Facebook group to find out more and get regular updates.

Shops

Volunteering is now open in retail! We have re-opened some shops and will be opening up more shops over the coming weeks. We therefore have vacancies for existing volunteers who may want to transfer if their own shop is still closed. Please join the volunteer Facebook group for more information. We also have vacancies for new volunteers interested in joining our team.

Offices

For the safety of all of our amazing volunteers and staff members, our teams are currently working from home wherever possible. We have therefore had to suspend all volunteering in our offices until further notice. If you are an existing volunteer, please join the PDSA volunteers Facebook group to find out more and get regular updates.

General advice

Obviously we want to help stop the spread of the virus and keep everyone safe. You can help to stop the spread by following the NHS’s advice, including making sure you wash your hands regularly. We’ll also have government advice posters up around all of our sites.

As an animal lover, you might be interested in reading our advice for pet owners covering some of the most frequently asked questions on the Coronavirus and pets. Read our vets’ advice on our blog.
