Local hotel team in Blyth lead charity dog walk for PDSA

The team at Commissioner’s Quay Inn in Blyth are gearing up for a tail-wagging fundraising challenge on Saturday 22 August, hosting a five-mile dog walk to raise vital funds for PDSA.

Known for being a dog-friendly local hub, the pub team wanted a charity event that both their staff and community could get involved in.

“We do a lot of different things for charity,” Jamie Briggs, Commissioner’s Quay Inn’s manager, explains. “With our pub being so dog-friendly and popular, we were brainstorming charities to work with and suggested PDSA. That immediately sparked the idea for a group dog walk.”

Designed with the local community in mind, the five-mile route around Blyth includes designated checkpoints along the map. This allows walkers and their four-legged friends who might not want to tackle the full distance to join in at different points along the way.

“We picked a dog walk because it’s something that all our team, returning locals, and new customers can get involved with,” says Jamie. “We thought five miles was long enough to raise some great money, but accessible enough so no one gets put off joining in.”

When asked why they chose to support the vet charity, the answer was simple:

“PDSA is a great charity that does loads for people and pets. To anyone thinking of supporting them, we’d just say: do it!”

To make the day even more special, any four-legged participants who join the walk will receive a special little dog pack sponsored by Sir Woofchesters (a premium dog treat company).

PDSA Vet Nurse, Shauna Walsh, said: “We’re so thrilled to have the support of the fantastic team at Commissioner’s Quay Inn and the local community. Events like this are such a wonderful way to bring people and pets together while raising vital funds for poorly pets in need. We want to say a huge thank you to the whole team and wish everyone, two-legged and four-legged, a fantastic walk.”
