Telford community choir launches charity record appeal

A local Telford community choir has launched a campaign to record and release its first ever charity Christmas album, which will raise money for Priorslee-based, national vet charity, PDSA.

Pitch Pawfect is an acapella choir and recently sung on the main stage at the PDSA's PetLife festival, which was headlined by Kaiser Chiefs, Jessie J and The Vamps. Fresh from this star-studded gig the choir, which is made up of employees and volunteers at PDSA, needs to raise £2,000 to record and distribute the charity CD ready for Christmas.

The first ten donations of £10 or over will receive their very own free copy of the CD as a thank you. To support the campaign just go to: www.gofundme.com/pitchpawfect

Choir Leader, Toria Salisbury-Scott said, "We want to crowdfund to cover the cost of getting the CD's produced - that way all the proceeds from sales can go straight back to PDSA to help fund the charity's vital work saving sick and injured pets in need."

The choir comprises 12 members, but will soon be opening up to new members from the wider public as well. They hope that the Christmas CD will help to increase awareness of PDSA, as well as raise vital funds to help support the charity's UK-wide network of 48 Pet Hospitals

Toria added: “We’ve only been going for around 18 months but have come such a long way already. We have a whole range of skill levels, from people with some experience, to those who’ve never sung before in their life. We started out singing at local Christmas markets, so to sing in front of thousands of people at the PetLife dog-friendly festival was incredible. I believe anyone can learn to sing!”

The record will include favourites such as Silent Night and Santa Baby as well as more contemporary arrangements such as Follow that Star and the African-inspired Kwase Kwabonakala (Be Like Him).

Supporters can also follow Pitch Pawfect on Facebook and Twitter.

PDSA have now been saving pets’ lives for 100 years. From a small basement in London’s East End and a single volunteer vet, the charity now provides over 2.7 million treatments a year, providing vital help to pets in need every single day.
