  • Ear problems in cats

    Ear problems can be very painful, and should always been checked by a vet. There are many different problems that can affect any one of the three main sections of a cat’s ear.

  • Sunburn in pets

    Pets can get sunburnt just like people, especially if they are light coloured or have a thin/patchy coat. Sunburn is painful, causes skin damage, and can lead to certain types of skin cancer.

  • Ear mites in cats and kittens

    Ear mites are tiny parasites that can affect ears. They are common in kittens but can also affect adult cats.

  • Vestibular Disease in dogs

    Vestibular disease/syndrome is a problem that affects balance and coordination; caused by any condition that disturbs the balance (vestibular) centre in the ear and brain.

  • Loss of balance in dogs

    Loss of balance can be caused by many different problems. Balance and coordination are controlled by the inner ear and brain, problems with either of these areas could cause balance issues.

  • HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) in Cats

    Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common type of heart disease found in cats. HCM causes the heart muscle to become abnormally thick, which can stop it working properly and lead to heart failure.

  • Dementia in Dogs: Cognitive Dysfunction

    Cognitive dysfunction (‘doggy dementia’) is a condition that can develop in some dogs as their brain ages. The cause isn’t fully understood, but it’s known to be made worse by changes such as a build-up of a harmful protein (beta amyloid), and poor blood flow.

  • Mitral Valve Disease in Dogs

    Mitral valve disease (MVD) is a heart problem caused by a faulty heart valve. It’s the most common type of heart disease in dogs and is especially prevalent in small breeds such as the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

  • Entropion in dogs

    Entropion is when an eyelid rolls in towards the eyeball, causing fur and eyelashes to rub the surface of the eye. It is very painful and often leads to problems such as conjunctivitis, infections and ulcers.

  • Aural haematoma (swollen ear flap) in a dog | PDSA

    An aural haematoma is a blood blister that forms inside an earflap after a blood vessel bursts. They usually develop due to head shaking or ear scratching because of an ear infection or skin problem.
