PDSA employee updates

This page is for PDSA colleagues who are not at work due to being on the Government’s new Job Retention (Furlough) Scheme from 5 November 2020.

Although you may not be working for us right now, we wanted to reassure you that you’re very much part of the PDSA family – and we wanted to create a space where you could get the latest updates from the organisation – as well access some useful resources.

If you are on furlough, thank you for all your hard work and support and everything you’ve done up to this point – we’re looking forward to being able to see you back at PDSA before too long.

In the meantime, we’ll be adding regular updates to this page to keep you informed, so keep checking back for updates.

Update: 25 March 2021

Join Director General Jan McLoughlin and Director of Fundraising & Engagement Nigel Spencer for our next live online Q&A session on Tuesday 13 April at 2pm. If you'd like to submit a question in advance, please email it to your.questions@pdsa.org.uk

To join in with the session online, click here.

Please note that this works best when joining the live session using a desktop/laptop computer rather than a mobile device and if you haven't downloaded the Teams application, simply click 'Watch on the web' instead.

If you're unable to join the session live, we'll be sharing a recording of the session afterwards.

Furlough archive

The following updates and information were created for colleagues who were part of the Government’s original Job Retention Scheme from mid-March up to 31 October 2020.

Update: Monday 6 April, 2020

A letter with details of your employment terms whilst furloughed can now be found in the Contract area on MyView - we've created a quick guide on how to access this. We’ll be using this page to provide you with general updates, but anything personal will be communicated to you via PDSA email and/or text message, so please make sure your contact details are up to date in MyView.

Update: Thursday 16 April, 2020

New and updated documents and information have been added to the Useful Links section of this page.

Update: Friday 17 April

Based on new guidance we’ve received, we’ve made changes to our policy on holidays for colleagues on furlough. If you were furloughed before Friday 10 April then it’s important that you read the latest update which is on your MyView record (MyView - My Document – My Contract). You don’t have to do anything – but if you do have any queries then please email us.

Update: Tuesday 21 April

Furlough - an important update - we wrote to you last week about our approach to annual leave when on furlough. We've since reviewed that guidance, click here to read more.

Update: Tuesday 28 April

Today we have announced changes to our approach to furlough. We need you to read this link. We will be uploading a letter to your MyView account, which you will need to log in to see. This letter will be live by tomorrow lunchtime (29.4.20) at the latest.

You will then need to complete a very short e-form in MyView to let us know you’ve read your letter and understand those changes. We've created some guidance notes to show you how to do that.

We’ve also created a new set of FAQs as well as an additional support pack (see Useful Links below) which includes lots of information which we hope you’ll find useful. We’ll continue to add more resources to support you over the coming days.

Update: 20 May – URGENT

If you’re on furlough, please remember that your annual leave – including bank holidays - are paid at your normal holiday rate.

For this to work, the holiday and bank holidays need to be booked and authorised in MyView.

We’re preparing for next week’s pay day – and we can see that a lot of people haven’t booked bank holidays in MyView yet.

Bank holidays – and any holidays you’ve booked to maintain full pay - need to be inputted in to MyView by noon on Friday 22 May in order for them to be included in this month’s pay. For full details about what you need to do – click here.

Update: 11 June 2020

Richard Hooker has started outlining some of the plans for our Veterinary teams over the next few months.

Update: 15 June 2020

We’ve emailed an update to all colleagues in our Retail and support function teams about booking annual, DG Day and quarantine for people returning from abroad. A separate email has been sent to Pet Hospital colleagues.

Update: 19 June 2020

The registration window is now open for PDSA colleagues to receive a Free flu jab. Register your interest by 7 August 2020 and log on to Fetch for more details.

Update 26 June 2020

We’ve sent an email to all furloughed colleagues with an update on our furlough approach. There are three different emails depending on which part of the organisation you’re in:

Update: 6 July 2020

We emailed colleagues to let them know about a new Working Safely From Home Checklist that needs to be completed on MyView for anyone working from home. If you’re currently on furlough, no action is required until you return to work.

Please note that this works best when joining the live session using a desktop/laptop computer rather than a mobile device and if you haven’t downloaded the Teams application, simply click ‘Watch on the web’ instead.

Update: 28 July 2020

This is the latest HR briefing which gives updates on shielding, dependency leave and quarantine procedures if you’re returning to the UK from abroad.

Update: 3 August 2020

Following an announcement for Retail Shop teams on Wednesday 29 July, Head of Retail Lloyd Hughes hosted a Live Q&A Session on Monday 3 August to answer any questions that people might have. If you missed it click here to watch the recording.
