  • Chocolate poisoning in dogs

Chocolate contains a substance called theobromine, which is perfectly safe for humans, but toxic for dogs, cats and rabbits.

  • Cherry eye in dogs

‘Cherry eye’ is a condition in which the gland that produces tears in dogs pops out and sits in in the corner of the eye.

  • Humping Behaviour in Dogs

Mounting and humping is normal for both male and female dogs, and occurs for a number of reasons (not always sexual). Distracting your dog, teaching them appropriate behaviour and neutering can help prevent humping.

  • Cryptorchidism/undescended testicles in dogs

Cryptorchidism is when one or both testicles fail to drop into the scrotum (ball sack).

  • Fly strike in rabbits

Fly strike happens when a fly lays its eggs on a rabbit’s fur which hatch into maggots and burrow under the skin to feed on flesh.

  • Cats in heat/Cats coming into season

A heat/season is the time of a cat’s cycle when they are fertile and can get pregnant.

  • Skin fold dermatitis in dogs

Pockets in between skin folds get very warm and moist. This makes a perfect environment for bacteria and yeast to grow and infections to develop.

  • Dermatitis (red, inflamed, sore skin or a rash) in cats

Has your cat got red, inflamed or angry looking skin? Do they have a rash? We often call these symptoms ‘dermatitis’.

  • Dental problems in rabbits

Your rabbit’s teeth are constantly growing. This is why they need to chew on so much grass and hay as it grinds their teeth down and stops them getting too long.

  • Heart problems in cats

There are a few different types of heart disease that can affect cats. It’s a problem that most common in middle aged-older cats, but can also sometimes affect kittens (in rare cases).
