  • Itchy ears and head shaking in dogs

Has your dog been shaking his/her head more than usual? Head shaking shouldn’t be ignored because it can indicate many different problems, usually related to the ears.

  • Aural haematoma (swollen ear flap) in a dog | PDSA

An aural haematoma is a blood blister that forms inside an earflap after a blood vessel bursts. They usually develop due to head shaking or ear scratching because of an ear infection or skin problem.

  • Ticks on dogs

Ticks are parasites that feed on animal and human blood. They can also transmit diseases such as Lyme disease.

  • Why older pets can be great

Sure, puppies and kittens are cute, but sometimes an older pet might be the perfect match. Adopting an older pet can be a great choice for some owners.

  • Painful eye/eye held closed in dogs

Has your dog been blinking excessively, holding an eye shut, showing other signs of eye pain? There are many conditions that can cause painful eye(s), some more serious than others.

  • Living in the city with your dog

The city is always on the go and with has lots of smells, sounds, sights and people, which means city living can occasionally be overwhelming for doggies. That doesn’t mean that dogs can’t live in the city, but it does mean that you need to introduce your pup to it gradually.

  • Healthy puppy and dogs

Prevention is better than cure – discover the simple steps you can take to keep your dog’s health in check.

  • Ear problems in dogs

A sore ear is not something to ignore. Ear problems can be very painful and need vet treatment to cure and find the cause.

  • Legacy Payment Form

Has a loved one left a gift to PDSA in their Will? Make their generous donation online and help us be there for pets in need.

  • Breed groups: what types of dogs are there?

You might have heard dogs being called ‘working breeds’ or ‘toy breeds’, but what do these groups actually mean? We’ve broken down each to help you understand your dog better!
