Meet two of this year’s TCS London Marathon 2026 runners

As the 2026 TCS London Marathon approaches, runners across the country are gearing up for the big day, including the wonderful Chelsea and Scott, who are both taking on the challenge to raise vital funds for PDSA.

Meet Chelsea

After an emotional year, self-employed barrister Chelsea is hoping to turn loss into motivation by running for PDSA.

She explains: “I think the work that PDSA does to help sick and injured pets all over the UK is incredible and vital. Charities like PDSA must be supported so they can continue for years to come.

My late nan was a huge animal lover who used PDSA’s services, so running the Marathon for them feels like the perfect opportunity to give back on her behalf.

Within the space of 12 months, between 2024-25, I sadly lost my three dogs (Bella, Luna, and Darcy). Luna and Darcy both had different but aggressive forms of cancer, and Bella had complications following an infection. Whilst I was able to cover their care, it made me think about people who might not be able to, and how important PDSA is.

I really struggled after their passing and channelled my grief into running as a way of coping. Running the London Marathon for PDSA will hopefully turn a very negative experience into a positive one!

I’ve really been enjoying the training so far, although the recent weather hasn’t made it easy! There have been a few runs where I’ve come home looking like I’d been for a swim rather than a run. Luckily, I really enjoy long-distance running, so it hasn’t felt too taxing yet – although that might change as the distances start to increase over the next few weeks!

I’m most looking forward to the atmosphere and the sense of achievement on the day. The London Marathon is such an iconic event, and running it while raising money for PDSA makes it even more meaningful. Knowing that the challenge will help support the incredible work they do for pets and their owners will definitely keep me motivated all the way to the finish line!”

  • Motivational song of choice? “Power by Little Mix. It’s one of my favourite songs to run to!”
  • Team dog, cat, or small furry? “I would usually opt for a more general fur-team, but if I had to choose, then I am team dog all the way.”

Meet Scott

Retired police officer Scott is a devoted animal lover. His motivation for taking on the London Marathon for PDSA comes from a heartfelt connection to our charitable work.

He explains: “Growing up, our family didn’t have much, but we always had pets. They were our comfort, our companions, and often our best friends.

I remember when our old Labrador, Max, suddenly became very sick. We couldn’t afford unexpected vet bills, and we were terrified we’d have to say goodbye too soon. That’s when we found PDSA.

They treated Max with care, dignity, and compassion without charging what we couldn’t afford. Thanks to them, we had two more precious years with him. It made me realise just how powerful and life-changing their work is… not just for animals, but for the people who love them. Now, I want to give back!

By running the London Marathon for PDSA, I hope to help more families keep their beloved pets healthy, no matter their circumstances. Every donation helps fund emergency surgeries, medication, and essential treatment for pets in need. I also adopted a retired police dog, so now Pacer is part of our family too!

This isn’t just a race for me. It’s a thank you to PDSA, and a chance to be part of something bigger. I want to make a difference, one paw at a time.

Training’s been going well, and I’m most looking forward to the buzz of the Marathon. From the start line to the finish line, the crowds are amazing. I can't wait to soak up the atmosphere again!”

  • Marathon snack of choice? “I don't eat during, just take water and ice when I can grab some!”
  • Team dog, cat, or small furry? “I'm team dog! I have a retired police dog (a German Shepherd) called Pacer and a Chug called Teddy.”
