Meet some of our fantastic volunteers

82-year-old Derek volunteers 6 days a week. Derek first started volunteering after his wife sadly passed away and said he would be lonely without volunteering at Maidstone PDSA. Often spotted in his brightly coloured vests (which he knits himself), he is always on hand to help us and has helped increase sales of both our raffle and pin badges.

Kay, 40, volunteers once a week at our shop in Stourbridge PDSA shop. She loves fashion and shopping including having the opportunity to be the first to find a bargain. She said "I started volunteering because I like to give back, I have 3 dogs at home and love animals so PDSA seemed like the right place."

Cory, 16, decided to start volunteering to gain experience in the retail sector and help gain skills that will make him stand out from the crowd with future employers. He fits volunteering at our Morriston PDSA shop around his education, after school and all day on a Saturday. He said "I'd encourage volunteering as when you leave the charity each day you feel like you have achieved something."

Linda is a dedicated volunteer at our Port Talbot PDSA and her support has been vital to us over the last 15 years. She loves her own pets and when she walked past our shop with a poster asking for volunteers she decided to give it a go, and help more poorly and injured pets. Due to some of the skills she learnt volunteering she also secured a new job working in a retail shop.
